New Double Glazed Windows for School

Why invest in new double glazed windows for schools?

There are five main reasons to upgrade the windows in your school;

  • Better Security
  • Improved Thermal Efficiency (lower heating costs)
  • Enhanced Safety
  • Noise Reduction
  • Cosmetic Improvement to School Buildings (attract future students to a modern looking school)

Better Security

Double glazed windows are made with toughened and laminated glass which is much harder to damage than old single glazed windows. Multi point locking systems also make it hard to break into buildings via the windows.

Improved Thermal Efficiency (lower heating costs)

Due to the materials used, uPVC and aluminium double glazed windows improve the thermal efficiency of buildings. This allows less heat to escape during the colder months which means lower heating costs!

Enhanced Safety

Due to government legislation, all new windows must be fitted with safety glass. This means that if the glass is damaged it will not break into long dangerous sharp shards unlike older glazing. Toughened glass will shatter into many small pieces which makes deep cuts a thing of the past. Laminated glass is a safety glass that holds together when damaged. If broken it is held in place by an interlayer between its two or more layers of glass. All safety glass will have a stamp on the glass to show that it is safety glass.

Noise Reduction

Waller Glazing Services installed new double glazed windows in a school that is situated on a busy main road. The teachers couldn’t believe what a difference the windows made, reducing the traffic noise to a minimum. This was a benefit to pupil concentration.

Cosmetic Improvement to School Buildings

Many school buildings look tired due to their age. Windows are a large part of any building and, if replaced, can make a difference to the appearance. A facelift could prove very important if you are looking to attract new pupils to the school in the future. Replace old metal, wooden framed, or old uPVC windows with an upgraded system.

Aluminium or uPVC Windows and Doors?

When deciding whether to install aluminium or uPVC windows it generally comes down to budget. uPVC windows are cheaper than the aluminium alternative. Aluminium is more of a commercial product with a sleeker profile and is more durable. However, uPVC is still a fantastic product and will carry a ten year garantee.

When it comes to doors, if used multiple times every day, aluminium is recommended. With moveable parts being used daily, aluminium would be far more suitable. If the door is only opened and closed two or three times a day, uPVC doors would be fine. External uPVC fire escape doors with push exit bars are generally used as they do not have a large footfall.
