Being an Apprentice Contracts Manager at Wallers
I have almost completed 10 months at Wallers. In this time of being an Apprentice Contracts Manager at Wallers, I have learnt a wide range of new skills and ways of working. This includes many tasks within my job role and, additionally, I have also learn other skills. All of the members of staff have been extremely helpful and are happy to answer any questions that I may have.
My Role
My role as an apprentice contracts manager means that I work closely with the current contract managers and I can learn from them to see how things are done. They help guide me into carrying out procedeures correctly. Each manager has their own slightly unique way of completing projects but they are happy for me to give my opinion if I see something in a slightly different way.
One aspect of my role which i enjoy is the balance between being office based and going out to site. On site we carry out surveys and seeing how our guys are getting along with the projects. In addition to these duties I attend college on day release and I have just completed my first year. I am doing a HNC in construction at MidKent Collegein Maidstone. By going to college I have been able to learn and engage in construction based activities to assist in my knowlege towards the building industry. The skills being taught have a crossover between quantity surveying and my own role which, together, can assist and prepare me for my final examinations.
Waller Building and Glazing
For over 25 years, Waller Building has worked on many commercial projects. Our reputation is growing fast. The building services we provided range from refurbishment through to extensions and complete new builds. Additionally our glazing department repairs windows and glass. We also install uPVC and aluminium windows and doors. One of the major areas that we are continuing grow is in the education sector.
